God Requires What Is Past

I have been thinking on and finally understanding a little bit about eternity and want to share.

I’ve been asking Jesus about the last part of this verse lately… “God requires what is past”.

That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past. Ecclesiastes 3:15

This was written before the cross.

So for a few days I am trying to wrap my brain around something Jesus revealed to me awhile ago… that the Cross is eternal.

Charlene and Gianna shared that we are the cross… and whenever I ask Jesus “am I crucified with Christ right now? Am I on the cross right now? Is the cross in me?” In which He always replies to me with “you are the cross.”

I was asking Him how can the cross be eternal? The cross is death. How can death be eternal? Only God is Eternal.

How can we be the cross, yet it is eternal? This is a Mystery of the Kingdom.

From the foundation of the world the Lamb of God was slain for the sins of the world… a moment in time, yet also before time existed… in eternity.

The cross rendered Adam eternally dead.

The eternal death of Adam was before the birth of Adam.

The death of Adam was the cross, which was before the foundation of the world when the Lamb of God was slain. God requires what is past… He requires the eternal death of adam on the cross, and the eternal resurrected Spirit of God within you. Two moments in time, yet also before the foundation of the world… before time even existed.

In the beginning was the cross and the resurrection. Before all things was the eternal Spirit of Christ and His Eternal Sacrifice for the world.

In Christ we overcome the second death… which is this life in the flesh. The first death happened on the cross, before the foundation of the world, in eternity.

Literally whoa. I’m still trying to wrap my brain around this.

It was finished before it even started.

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Hebrews 4:3 KJV

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV

  1. Love this.. deep, beautiful mysteries. Love the vs u posted too, how no man can fathom what He has done from the beginning to end. He is the beginning and the end.. He is eternity. I think beginning and end is another way to say eternity. Replacing the image of the cross in my mind with all of us individually. Amazing how it was even b4 we were born, even before Adam.. how Jesus is before all things and all people, and this was completed for us. We only see stuff unfold but its finished.

  2. i think you’re right about beginning to end means eternity… there is probably a bunch of other ways to say it also… makes me think a little of a post you wrote awhile back… about how all sin is forgiven and the world is covered in blood… i have been thinking about that lately. there is nothing in the way of anyone turning to Christ… no ritual that needs to be performed…we just have to seek Him for truth until we find Him… also thinking that putting eternity in the hearts of men is putting the beginning and the end in the heart of each man… the cross and the resurrection. the world and the firmament. the veil within the temple.

  3. By Adam’s death is eternal… I just mean the finality of it… not that death goes on and on and on… death is overcome by Christ.
